Postdoctoral Opportunities:

Queen Mary will be launching a new Centre for Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, starting in May 2011. The new Director will be Professor Martin Dove, and the Centre will have a research focus on structural condensed matter with special emphasis on local atomic structure. The new Centre will be a hub for the existing condensed matter physics research and complementary research expertise from other areas of the College.

Research Associate: Characterisation & local structure of dielectrics for high voltage applications

We seek to appoint a new lecturer with a focus on experimental methods, particularly with an interest in analysis using the pair distribution function. Candidates should have experience with diffraction methods, use of radiation-beam facilities, appropriate data analysis, programming, sample preparation and synthesis. Applicants should have a very strong research record within condensed matter physics/chemistry, should demonstrate an ability to contribute to new developments in the techniques they use, as well as an interest and ability to collaborate with colleagues within the centre and from other disciplines. It is expected that the successful candidate will be supported with PhD studentships from an early stage. The position will provide the successful candidate with an exceptional opportunity to become part of a new research centre focused on an emergent and active research area.
